At ITW Performance Polymers, we are committed to supporting the innovators and problem solvers who are shaping the future of engineering and sustainable mobility. That’s why we are proud to continue our annual tradition of donating Plexus® structural adhesives to the renowned University of Michigan Solar Car Team for the 2025 season problem solvers who are shaping the future of engineering and sustainable mobility.
A Team Driven by Excellence
The University of Michigan Solar Car Team is one of the most accomplished solar racing organizations in the world, and their performance in the 2025 Bridgestone World Solar Challenge further solidified that reputation. The team achieved a 7th‑place global finish, earning the distinction of being the top North American team in this elite international competition.
Plexus Adhesives: Integral to the Construction of Millennium
This year’s solar car, Millennium, represents an impressive feat of lightweight engineering, aerodynamics, and composite construction. Our Plexus adhesive products were instrumental throughout the build process, from bonding composite structures to ensuring the rigidity and durability required for the intense conditions of solar racing.
The team’s engineers leveraged Plexus adhesives to meet strict weight, performance, and reliability standards, helping them assemble a highly integrated and rigid structure without compromising efficiency.
Looking Ahead: Enhancing Millennium
Following the impressive results in Australia, the team is already hard at work making improvements and evolving Millennium for future competitions. ITW Performance Polymers is excited to continue supporting them with Plexus adhesives as they refine their design and push the limits of what is possible in solar‑powered mobility.
Fueling the Future Together
Partnerships like this embody what we value most: collaboration, innovation, and engineering that make a positive impact. We congratulate the University of Michigan Solar Car Team on their achievements and can’t wait to see what they accomplish next.
